Jesus: Thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are, praying in public. Republicans: Fuck off, Lord

So Much for the “Christians” Among the Tea Party/Republicans

September 30, 2013

They obviously disobey every single command Jesus gave to any who were to be considered genuine followers. They’re trying to impress the denizens of the White House as well as the public. And as Jesus said, that’s their sole reward, ’cause there ain’t gonna be a reward in heaven for this. Perhaps they think the Son of God was lying.

How Can Any Tea Party Republican Call Him/Herself a Christian? Not One of Them Is.

September 23, 2013
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

They spout Jesus-words and God-words all the livelong day. But Jesus has a few words for them too:

And he [Jesus] said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

— Matt. 19:17-22

That young man is the spitting image of every Republican who uses the name of Jesus for political purposes. (Weren’t they taught not to take the Lord’s name in vain??)

Republicans Prove Again They Are Hypocrites, Hate The Poor, And Are Terrible Christians:

The GOP can now cross “punch a poor person” off their bucket list of asshatery when the US House passed a massive cut in food stamps on Thursday. Most used the false excuse of abuse of the system to justify taking food away from 4 million people. Some of them, claiming to be Christians, used Bible quotes as their justification.

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Republicans Must Believe that Jesus Hates Hungry, Poor People and has a Deep-Seated Love for the Rich:

I get why the GOP used religion as a tool to build their party; it’s a great way to manipulate people, but the whole think just reeks with irony with nearly every policy they support.

So when I read about the House vote to cut $39 billion from the food stamp program, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Well, I guess Jesus hates hungry, poor people.”

…Hell, could you imagine if we tried to cut $39 billion from oil subsidies or big corporate tax breaks? Republicans would go nuclear saving those, yet have absolutely no problem going after the poor…

So when these right-wing politicians continue to try to deny health care coverage for Americans, cut $39 billion from the food stamp program and support policies that almost always benefit the rich — that must be their way of saying they believe Jesus Christ hates the poor and loves the rich.

Right-wing Christians in Congress forget Jesus’ rule of feeding the hungry:

The right-wing ‘Christians’ in the House finally did it. They voted to cut $39 billion from the food stamp program. Where is the church? Why have they not engaged the evil that is encompassing this new thinking within the right wing of the Congress?

…Criminals have been heard to say that their first murder was difficult. As they continued with their murders it became easier. The Right Wing Republican analogy cannot be missed.

I think, given how much these “righteous Christians” in Congress hate the poor and love attacking them with all barrels blazing, perhaps we’ll give Jesus the last word. You know, so these Tea Party “Christians” can be reminded of their ultimate fate, if the Jesus they say they believe in really exists:

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

— Matthew 25:41-46

Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Inasmuch as ye DID IT NOT TO ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE, ye did it not to me.

Tea Party Republicans, this is what the Lord you hate and disobey gleefully with every breath says to you:

INASMUCH AS YE DID IT NOT TO ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE, YE DID IT NOT TO ME.

Enjoy the flames, you vile beasts.

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels

Crosspoint Wesleyan Church IS a Whited Sepulchre

Fredericton church dismisses young volunteer due to sexual orientation

The Wesleyan Church in Fredericton this week dismissed a young volunteer because he is gay…

To his shock, they asked Briggs to stop his volunteer activities. They said he was welcome to continue attending church services. [Cue the chorus of Pink Floyd’s “Money.”]

But hey. Pastor Mark Brewer assures everybody that his church is still working hard to reach and love “everyone.”

Riiiiight. Except twenty-year-old extremely good guy Colin Briggs, who has volunteered at the church for two years, been a camp counselor for two years, and even gone a mission to Haiti to help the country recover from its terrible earthquake.

Colin Briggs with children of Haiti

Colin Briggs clearly needs to be stopped. Right, Jesus?

His volunteer work is no longer welcome at Crosspoint Wesleyan Church. Why? Because he did a bad job? (He didn’t.) Because he didn’t care deeply? (He did.) Because he wasn’t good with the kids in the children’s ministry? (He wasn’t.)

No, Mark Brewer and youth pastor Nathalie Estey kicked Briggs out of all his good-hearted volunteer work because the church is more concerned with what’s between his legs than all the good work he does for people in need.

That’s what it boils down to. This pastor is worried about what people will think (i.e., he won’t dispel his congregation’s misconceptions that homosexuality leads to pedophilia — which means that he will be helping those misconceptions to continue), so he will cut the church’s own throat and rob it of a great-souled volunteer.

This church claims to follow Jesus. So what did Jesus say about Sodom and Gomorrah, those cities that modern fundies like to associate with judgment against homosexuality? This is what Jesus says:

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not…

And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Matthew 11: 20, 23, 24

He condemned Capernaum and other cities in that speech because they rejected mighty works done in the name of God. Even Sodom is better than them! And what has Colin Briggs done, if not “mighty works” in God’s name?

If the Crosspoint Wesleyan Church thought Sodom got judged harshly — just wait. Just wait. If the Jesus they believe in really exists and is really going to assess them at the end of time — oh, just wait.

Wish Death to Gays on Their Wedding Day Because Jesus Would EXACTLY Do that Thing

September 5, 2013

Thus saith Kevin Swanson, who knows damn well that Jesus would never, ever do anything nasty like dine and celebrate with publicans and sinners — oh wait.

And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. – Mark 2:15

Well. That’s awkward.

But behold. Kevin Swanson knows better than Jesus.

Pastor Kevin Swanson: Tell gay couples to die on their wedding day:

Swanson said that guests can “attend the wedding and hold up the sign Leviticus 20:13 word for word: ‘If a man sleeps with a man as he sleeps with a woman the two of them have committed an abomination and they shall both be put to death.’ You could attend a wedding and hold up that sign.”

Yep. Just like Jesus would do. You can feel the compassion and Christlike love just radiating from Swanson, can’t you? Yep.

Would fundamentalist Christians do this for Muslims?

August 18, 2013
Muslims protect a Catholic Church during mass.

Muslims protect a Catholic Church during mass. (Thank you to Unvirtuous Abbey, on Facebook, for the photo, and to whoever they got the photo from.)

I suspect that the answer to the question posed in the title of this post is: NO. I’d like to hope that the humanity of Christian fundamentalists would win through, when the crunch really came. But I suspect that for the vast majority of them, their ideology would win out. And they would be the ones attacking the mosque.
