Forget Multiple Fault Lines; Tehran’s Earthquake Will be Caused by Women. Of Course.

April 22, 2013

The religious stupid, it burns. (And, damn, why don’t women use this power if they’ve got it? We could rule the world!)

Women to blame for earthquakes, says Iran cleric:

“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes,” Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

This educated and scientifically informed pronouncement comes on the heels of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s prediction two weeks ago that a deadly earthquake is sure to hit the capital city of Tehran soon. Given that understanding (which you can bet Ahmadinejad got from science), naturally it’s only reasonable to look for the “real cause” of the danger.

It’s women, of course. It’s always women for these clowns. It’s like they are so obsessed in thinking about women that they are incapable of taking their minds off women long enough to, you know, look at irrelevant things like facts.

A senior Iranian cleric says women who wear revealing clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes…

“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes,” Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

You know what this reminds me of? A Toronto Star journalist visited one of the worst-hit islands after the massive Christmastime 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. He said that as he strolled down the beach, he kept coming across religious groups, one after the other, gathered on the beach while being harangued by their religious leaders. And what was each religious leader saying? He was telling his followers that the tsunami was their fault, because they were not proper Christians/Muslims/Buddhists/Sikhs/Hindus/Jedi/whatever.

One after the other, each preacher was blaming his own fellow religionists for not being good enough [chosen religious affiliation here] and thereby causing the tectonic plate in the Indian Ocean to shift. There was never, not once, a single thought that it could just have been a natural phenomenon. Oh yes, the tsunami was caused by a fault all right–a moral fault. Which each religion, by golly, knew how to fix. (No opportunists leading those crowds, nosirreebob.)

For that Iranian cleric, though, it’s much more specific. It is–as it always is, has been, and will be for these sex-obsessed fundamentalists of every single religion–women’s fault.

If we women had the power to cause earthquakes, we’d have arranged for the earth to open up and swallow these nasty, ignorant pigs millenia ago.

"Pronounce, pronounce, pronounce" goes the ignorant, wilfully uneducated fool

“Pronounce, pronounce, pronounce” goes the ignorant fool

(Here’s another good take on this: Pat Robertson 2.0 Iran edition)
