And Jesus Said, “Suffer the Child Sex Offenders to Come Unto Me…”

April 17, 2012

Pedophile church pastor Darrell Gilyard“…and keep the little children out of our presence while he does so.” Yep. That appears to be what Jesus really meant.

Back in February, Darrell Gilyard, a man who had just been released from prison for child sex offences was reinstalled as the pastor of Christ Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Florida Church Bans Children to “Protect” Pastor Registered as Child Sex Offender

According to Britni Danielle of Clutch, Gilyard pleaded guilty in 2009 “to lewd conduct and lewd molestation of two underage girls.”

While he was the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church Gilyard molested a 15-year-old girl and sent a lewd text message to another. Under the conditions of his plea agreement, Gilyard cannot have “unsupervised contact with children under 18 years old,” and in separating children from the congregation, “his new church has taken extraordinary steps to help Gilyard stick to the terms of his deal.”

So naturally one thinks of the pastor first, before the children. Just like Jesus said, right?

But oops! Look what happened to Easter at the church!

Sex offender pastor puts a damper on Easter

Each spring, Christ Tabernacle Baptist Church holds an egg hunt for the kids. This time, that won’t happen thanks to Darrell Gilyard. He’s the pastor, and a registered sex offender arrested years ago for molesting a 15-year-old girl he was supposed to counsel at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Since his release in December, and return to the pulpit things have been controversial. Not only are some members sticking by him but the playground at the church was torn down, so he could continue preaching during “adult only” services.

One local, Roderick Dorsey, says this:

“The kids ask me everyday why the park got tore down and when the pastor is going to leave so we can get our stuff back to normal. I can’t answer that.”

But what do those kids matter anyway? Didn’t Jesus say this:

But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 19:14)

Oh. Wait. Hm.

So what could the real motive possibly be for Christ Tabernacle Baptist Church to prefer the sex offender over the children? From the first article, above:

This chance also helps Christ Tabernacle out financially. Attendance was down, but with Gilyard it has increased.

Ah yes. And there you have it. Well, those good folks from Christ Tabernacle Baptist Church, who would rather exile their own children from Christ’s presence than disturb that flow of cash I mean all that preaching from this sex offender might be interested in another verse from their little Bible:

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:10)

And how about the words of, you know, Jesus himself? You know, the guy they named their fucking church after??

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and [that] he were drowned in the depth of the sea. (Matthew 18:5-6)

Whited Sepulchres to the core.
