Yes, Right-wing Christians, you DO have to feed the poor. Jesus said so.

November 12, 2011

I don’t really need to add anything to this post: The Christian Cop Out, from the Christian Left blog. If you want to know where, in the Christian scriptures, it says that Christians are required to feed the poor and help the less fortunate — yes, through government means as well as by individual means — this blog post will give you plenty of biblical passages to chew on.

And then, dear Christians, try your darnedest to come up with all the reasons Jesus or God “didn’t really mean what he said.” You’re always very creative that way. You can deny anything in the Bible if it suits you. Just don’t be surprised if the rest of us laugh when you then go on to say that you take the Bible literally, and live by it every day. You are, plain and simple, a liar.

As Charles Toy, the writer of that post, says:

Frankly, I’m sick and tired of hearing this epic cop-out on the part of Christians: “I wonder if Jesus meant for the government to feed the poor, or for us to voluntarily give to make sure all the poor people have food.” Many don’t even wonder about the notion. They insist they know. Provision and care for the least of these — the sick, the poor, the homeless, the addicted, the mentally ill, the displaced, the marginalized — is an individual mandate. Human institutions of government have no business worrying about such things.

What a load of Bull dung.

How many passages of God’s word do they need?

Apparently, ten million passages wouldn’t be enough for the right-wing Christians who yell so loudly and thump their self-righteous chests so piously so we can all see and hear how damn right they are.

Yep, the self-appointed morality police, in their zeal to root out the wrongdoing of of others, always kinda forget about the good deeds toward others that their own scriptures — including the very words of their Savior! — require them to do. How convenient all that panty-sniffing keeps them so busy!
